About Stefania

"I acknowledge and respect the Coast Salish First Nations' long and ongoing relationship with the land and sea where I work and play."

Stefania has worked for Malahat Nation on Marine Stewardship programs and was the Communications Director at Raincoast Education Society, a non-profit organization in Tofino BC.

She is interested in new opportunities to build communities through digital and visual communication; particularly those involving marine conservation and science.

She is the founder of Guardians of the Deep: A citizen science program created to monitor Rockfish populations in the Salish Sea.

Past Projects

Stefania completed her ​Master of Science degree at the University of Victoria, in British Columbia, Canada.
During her Master's she improved data availability for rockfish conservation while evaluating the quality of citizen science SCUBA-derived data.

Stefania completed her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in Marine Biology (2011). She has previously worked in Southern California photographing blue whales, at the Vancouver Aquarium maintaining live exhibits, and for the Canadian Government (Fisheries and Oceans Canada).

Biodiversity baseline monitoring (Salish Sea, Howe Sound, and Kitimat)
Fisheries enhancement (Eulachon rearing)
Salmon genetics
Aquaculture (Wolfeel and Salmon)
Keystone species response to acute climate change
